What's New

With my partner Everett Rutherford, I am starting a new company called StartExp. We will starting a new web site to develope this business soon. In the meantime if you drill down to this page you can see some new maps of Africa which serve as part of an advertisement for our work.

July 2003, I have added some images of Liberia, see Langniappe

Early March 2003, I have added an Abstract and Map for an Iraq paper that I will present to the Houston Geological Society on 19 May 2003 with Everett Rutherford

Late January 2003, I have added a map of Morocco.

November 2002, check out the publications list for a new download of slides of my recent AAPG talk in Cairo.

September 2002: I have taken up teaching in a community college (Tomball College) NW of Houston so my efforts toward the Middle East have been somewhat diluted. .

14 May 2002: I have added some maps of Madagascar that I have been working on, just go to the bottom of the "Africaexploration" page and look for the Madagascar links. I think these are pretty neat maps. The take advantage of the capacity of MapInfo 6.5 to overlay translucent maps. So what I have done in two cases is to combine the Tropical radar data with surface geology and with DEM elevation.

Most recently I have added a second Map Matrix Page. On this page I have put Overburden, Burial maps, and the beginnings of a set of Structural Contour maps. See the base of Subsurface Maps I for a description of these new map types.

I have recently added the beginnings of a tectonic module to this Web Site. See the Menu on the front page.

Also around the beginning of January I added a Langniappe page which will presently take you to a "free download" in pdf format on Creativity in Exploration. I future months I hope to add to this page some essays on some "soft" issues of geoscience.

Last January I presented a paper to the Houston Geological Society on my methodology in making the isopach maps of the Arabian Plate. If you go to my Publications page (see front menu) and look for my last publication / talk you will find a down load of some of the power point slides from this talk. I am beginning to try and make the publications downloadable so if you are interested in these, keep checking back.
