Introduction

This web page attempts to provide resources for Hydrocarbon Exploration on the Arabian Plate. Secondarily I have begun to put a few things on the page concerning exploration on the African Plate (onshore). I hope the page will be useful to explorers and will serve as an expanded "business card" for my consultancy.

More than 90 maps are visible on these web pages. So if you do not click 90 times during this visit, book mark www.whpierceexploration.com as a favorite and please come back.

We have developed a combined database-GIS-mapping system for crafting any stratigraphic map of the Arabian Plate that you may need, including maps of chronostratigraphic units, lithostratigraphic units, sub-crop maps, worm’s eye maps, and time-hiatus maps. We have begun our work with chronostratigrapic sequence maps and will be working toward lithostratigraphic maps that emphasize the roles that rock units play in hydrocarbon systems. I presented in January 2002 a talk reviewing the process of construction of the chronostratigraphic sequence isopach maps.
I want to emphasize that these isopach maps are not intended to compete with the beautiful set of maps published by Ziegler, M. A., 2001, Late Permian to Holocene Paleofacies Evolution of the Arabian Plate and its Hydrocarbon Occurrences, GeoArabia, Vol. 6, No. 3, pp. 445-504. and Konert, G., Afifi, A. M., Al-Hajri, S. A., and H. J. Droste, 2001, Paleozoic Stratigraphy and Hydrocarbon Habitat of the Arabian Plate, GeoArabia, Vol. 6, No. 3, pp. 407-442. Their excellent maps are re-constructive facies maps. My isopach maps displayed here are intended to show present day sequence thickness and among other things to have use in regional subsidence or maturation analysis.

Page Objective: My objective is to promote of our consultancy (WHPierce Exploration) and to provide some new data concerning Middle East hydrocarbon exploration. My intent is to provide just enough information of value to keep potential clients returning. The map of the month may become the graph of the month or essay of the month. The Subsurface Maps I and II pages can also be used for study. The pages are in the form of a matrix. One can click on over 60 of the maps in this matrix to see large thumb nails. Be sure and read the generalized map descriptions at the base of the Subsurface Maps page. If you would like to be notified when I update maps, send an E-mail note to walterhpierce@yahoo.com. I have also nearly completed a report entitled Source Rock of the Arabian Plate: A Review for Exploration. Click here to read more about this report.

The chief consultant, Walter H. Pierce, has over 17 years of regional experience of detailed study of the Arabian Plate and the countries of the Middle East. We specialize in very large data sets, stratigraphy, structure, mapping, and the roles the rock units play in hydrocarbon systems. Our maps cover: Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates, including: Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras, Al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Qaiwain.

Call us for your regional needs for oil and gas exploration. We can help you put your prospect into regional context (Where do you go next?) or we can help you to focus your G & G. Consider supporting our research for a competitive advantage.

Click here to see the maps being constructed and with an opportunity to see some of the large thumb nail versions.

Thanks for visiting.
